Every Sunday, after chapel service, hundreds of students at the University of St Andrews don their iconic red academic gowns and take part in the traditional Pier Walk along the harbour walls of St Andrews.
The Pier Walk is one of the oldest customs in St Andrews, encapsulating the university’s dedication to traditional values and ceremonial practice.
We all miss our traditions and we hope all of you are happy and safe in these most trying of times. But it has been weeks since the last Pier Walk, and the beast buried under the Mapstone Mansion still pines for a sacrifice.
Blessed be the fruit under his eye.
